The Waterville Senior High School community believes that education enriches people’s lives. We promote personal improvement and excellence in academics, the arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities in a safe, respectful environment. Our missions to provide opportunities for students to acquire knowledge, to develop skills, and to foster attitudes necessary for learning. Our programs and services assist students in becoming life-long learners, ethical and responsible citizens, and productive workers. We strive to produce students who are able to think critically and independently, to adapt to new situations, to make responsible choices, and to show respect for all.

 

Academic Expectations

1.         Students shall understand how human beings function mentally and emotionally, and how such knowledge relates to healthy living.

2.         Students shall understand the democratic principles and governmental processes upon which the United States is based.

3.         Students shall understand histories of civilization and the geography of this planet anyhow these have shaped the world as it exists today.

4.         Students shall communicate clearly, using oral, written, or other means as individually appropriate.

5.         Students shall demonstrate an ability to access, to acquire, and to evaluate information by using technology appropriate to the task.

6.         Students shall understand and use the language of mathematics.

7.         Students shall develop the means to investigate the natural world of which they are apart.

8.         Students shall develop the skills and strategies to comprehend, to interpret, and to evaluate what they read.

9.         Students shall understand the role played by visual or performing arts as a creative expression of the human experience and cultural heritage.
